Miss Leslie's Testimony
I was raised in the Gospel Lighthouse Church since I was 3 years old. When I was just 4, I knelt by my bed with my mom and asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins and come live in my heart. I was among the small number of students when the Lighthouse Academy first opened its doors in 1988 as a 1st grader. I had a good, Christian home growing up and was always surrounded by solid, Bible teaching. I wanted to "be a light for Jesus" like I had been taught in Bible Club. I started praising the Lord out loud and raising my hands long before I really understood that it was the presence of God that I felt. I was first filled with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit when I was 8 years old. We were having "Halleluiah" class led by Pastor Paul at the school. Paul taught us about submitting to the Lord and letting Him have His own way in our life.
I went all the way through Lighthouse Academy and graduated from the Lighthouse in 2000. I felt lead to North Central University in Minneapolis, where I majored in Children's Ministries. Here the Lord continued to work in my life and opened me up to loving people of all different backgrounds. It was at this time in my life that God really dealt with me about my pride. He showed me that it was simply by His mercy that I had the precious, spiritual seeds sown in my heart at a young age.
It was during my Sophomore year that God called me back to the work in Floyd. I wanted to labor where my Master called me and I was privileged to be able to come to little Floyd, IA and give back the fruit of the great investment made in my life. I graduated college in 2004 with a B.A. in Children's Ministries and came to Floyd as the Children's Pastor and Lower Level teacher at Lighthouse Academy. I was ordained through the Gospel Lighthouse Church in 2006. Now I am continuing in the work with the children and teaching the Kindergarten and 1st grade at the Academy. I am looking forward to what the the Lord has in store for the future and pray that more little ones can be taught young to give their unreserved love to the Savior.
"Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not for of such in the kingdom of God." Matthew 18:16
